Bahrain's Beyon powers a third data center on solar energy

Beyon says a fifth phase of its Solar Park program will make a third of its Bahrain data centers fully renewable-powered, adding 1.5 MWp of solar capacity.

Bahrain’s Beyon has completed the fifth phase of its Solar Park program, a milestone the company says will bring a third of its green data centers in Bahrain onto fully renewable power. Built with partner Almoayyed Solar at a cost of roughly BD544,500, the new installation spans 14,000 square meters and houses 2,292 solar panels with a combined capacity of 1.5 MWp.

Beyon expects the site to come online within months and generate roughly 2.5 GWh of clean energy a year, cutting more than 1,585 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. That brings the number of Beyon data centers running entirely on renewable energy to three.

CEO Andrew Kvaalseth said, “Data centres are increasingly fundamental to the digital economy, and we believe their continued expansion should go hand in hand with a more sustainable approach to powering critical infrastructure.” The expansion builds on two earlier phases: one that made Total CX’s contact center the first in Bahrain to run on green power, and another, completed in 2025, that converted Beyon’s Tier III-certified data center in Hamala to full renewable operation.

The expansion was unveiled at Gateway Gulf 2026, with Beyon Group chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa on hand, and Almoayyed International chairman Mohammed Almoayyed said the partnership continues to show what long-term collaboration can deliver in renewable-energy infrastructure at scale.

Why it matters

Beyon’s build-out shows a Gulf telecom and data-center operator treating renewable power as core infrastructure rather than an add-on, a signal for a region where data-center capacity — and the electricity it draws — is expanding fast.
