Amazon adds over 100 shopping features to Alexa for the holidays
Amazon added more than 100 new shopping capabilities to Alexa ahead of the holidays, including subscription and delivery management.
The update lets users manage shopping lists and subscriptions through Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant: creating and editing lists, adjusting how often a subscribed item ships — switching a delivery from every month to every three months, for instance — and updating delivery instructions, such as changing an address or adding drop-off details. Alexa can now also answer questions about Prime and Audible subscriptions, along with billing and payment issues.
The rollout extends a string of AI-shopping features Amazon has shipped this year, including a shopping assistant and a system that flags new products and deals to users. Amazon said agentic-feature usage has grown 8x since the start of the year, and that more than 400 million people have used Alexa for shopping over the past 12 months.
Why it matters
The expanded toolkit shows Amazon leaning further into agentic AI as a retention play for Prime, folding everyday shopping chores — subscriptions, deliveries, billing — directly into its assistant just ahead of the year’s biggest sales season.
