Meta AI's new Mac app adds system-wide dictation and business tools

Meta launched a Mac app for Meta AI with system-wide dictation and screen-aware answers, alongside business features that connect Instagram, Facebook, ad campaigns, and Google Workspace accounts.

Meta today announced a new Mac app for Meta AI with built-in system-wide dictation, working across all apps similarly to tools like Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue. Last month, Google updated its Gemini app for Mac with a comparable system-wide dictation feature. The app can also look at the current screen and answer questions based on that context, using Meta’s Muse Spark model.

The Mac app release is part of a broader Meta AI update aimed at business owners. Merchants can connect their Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta ad campaigns, and Google Workspace accounts — including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides — to Meta AI and query the assistant for insights. Meta AI can then surface information about campaign performance and audience engagement metrics to show which posts performed well, and it can provide intelligence on competitors based on publicly available data. With the business-tool integration, the assistant can also create proposal decks, draft documents, and build spreadsheets.

Meta has increasingly focused on making its AI tools available to businesses for automated customer support across apps including WhatsApp and Instagram. On the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said there is a big opportunity to sell agents to businesses and automate work on their behalf.

Why it matters

By pairing system-wide dictation with business-data integrations in one desktop app, Meta is positioning Meta AI as a daily work tool for merchants, not just a consumer chatbot — deepening the company’s push to monetize AI through business automation.
