Berry Street and Healthify merge to ride the GLP-1 boom
US nutrition startup Berry Street has merged with India's Khosla Ventures-backed Healthify, betting on rising GLP-1 drug use, though the companies didn't disclose the deal's financial terms.
US nutrition startup Berry Street said Monday it has merged with Khosla Ventures-backed Indian startup Healthify to capitalize on the growing trend of people using GLP-1 drugs to lose weight. The companies didn’t disclose financial terms of the deal. A JP Morgan report published this year suggested more than 30 million people in the US will be on GLP-1 drugs by 2030.
Berry Street founder Noah Kotlove and Healthify founder Tushar Vashisht will act as co-CEOs of the combined company, which will operate under the Berry Street name in the US and the Healthify brand in markets like India. Healthify, which has raised over $150 million per Crunchbase, offers AI-powered and human fitness and nutrition coaching through an app; it expanded into the US last year and began offering GLP-1-aided programs in India, and says it has served more than 45 million customers. “Healthify’s mission has been to put a dietitian in every human’s pocket. We have spent a decade proving that AI can drive life-changing outcomes at scale. Berry Street gives us the clinical backbone and the coverage infrastructure to deliver that promise to the US market at a scale no one has achieved before,” Vashisht said in a press release.
Berry Street operates a network of more than 2,000 clinics and offers insurance-covered GLP-1 care, alongside AI-powered nutrition coaching and meal tracking; it says it has served over 200,000 people in collaboration with Amazon, Walmart, and other platforms. The company raised $50 million last year from Northzone, Sofina, and FJ Labs. “By pairing AI with a nationwide network of expert clinicians, Healthify and Berry Street are building the platform that will redefine metabolic care, giving everyone access to daily nutrition guidance and expert dietitian advice,” Khosla Ventures founder Vinod Khosla said in a statement.
Why it matters
The merger pairs Healthify’s AI-coaching scale in India with Berry Street’s US clinical and insurance infrastructure, a combination the companies are betting will let them capture GLP-1-driven demand in both markets faster than either could alone.
