Apple sets September 9 for its next iPhone launch event
Apple announced Wednesday that its next launch event, themed "Surprise and Shine," will take place September 9 — the first under incoming CEO John Ternus.
Apple said Wednesday it will hold its next launch event on September 9, under the tagline “Surprise and Shine.” The event is expected to be a notable one: Apple is rumored to unveil its long-awaited foldable iPhone, and it will be the first Apple event with John Ternus as CEO. Ternus is scheduled to take over from Tim Cook on September 1.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, though the two models are rumored to be relatively iterative upgrades rather than a major redesign. Reports have indicated the company won’t announce the standard iPhone 18 until next year.
The tech giant is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra, alongside new smart-home devices. In addition to the new hardware, Apple may announce launch dates for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate and other upcoming software updates.
The event will take place at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, at 10 a.m. PT.
Why it matters
The event marks a leadership transition at Apple as much as a product cycle, giving Ternus his first turn presenting the company’s flagship hardware as CEO.
