Everything Apple announced at its fall iPhone event
Apple's Surprise and Shine event introduced the foldable iPhone Duo, the iPhone 18 Pro, new AirPods 5, Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and a redesigned Health app.
Apple on Wednesday unveiled its latest iPhones and Apple Watches at its first fall event under newly appointed CEO John Ternus. The main event was the company’s highly anticipated first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo. Apple also announced its iPhone 18 Pro lineup, along with new AirPods, Apple Watches, and a redesigned Health app.
iPhone Duo: Apple’s first foldable features a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, with an under-display camera on the inner screen. Apple says the device delivers up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display. The dual-camera system pairs a 48-megapixel main sensor with a 48-megapixel ultrawide and 2x optical zoom, and the hinge uses grade-5 aluminum with over 100 specially engineered components. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 with 256GB of storage in two colors; preorders open October 16, with availability October 23.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: The Pro lineup keeps its predecessor’s design but gains a 48-megapixel camera with a variable aperture controlled by six blades, new Pro camera controls, and 4K video with Dolby HDR Vision. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, and the Pro Max at $1,299 — $100 more than last year’s models. Preorders open Saturday, with availability September 18.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4: The smartwatches add “Audio Intelligence” features, including “Live Rewind,” which replays the previous 15 seconds of a conversation, and “Siri Recap,” which summarizes daily conversations. A “Sound Recognition” feature can alert hard-of-hearing users to sounds like sirens or a baby crying. The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399, and the Ultra 4 at $499; preorders open today, with availability September 18.
AirPods 5: Apple says the latest AirPods reduce background noise 50% more than the previous generation, add stem-based volume control, and improve Transparency mode. Battery life reaches up to 5 hours of listening with active noise cancellation, or up to 22 hours with the charging case. AirPods 5 start at $129, or $149 with a wireless charging case; preorders open today, with arrival September 18.
Health app: A redesigned Health app adds an Insights tab, a “Readiness” score, a “Health Age” calculation, and a new Longevity tab that draws on Apple Watch and iPhone metrics. It rolls out later this year, starting in U.S. English.
Why it matters
The lineup shows Apple spreading Apple Intelligence and on-device AI features across its entire hardware portfolio — not just the flagship iPhone — while betting its first foldable, arriving years after rivals, can still reset the category.
