ClickHouse raises $400M at $15B valuation
ClickHouse secured $400 million at a $15 billion valuation, representing about a 2.5x increase, and acquired AI observability startup Langfuse to bolster its database platform.
Database provider ClickHouse has secured $400 million in a new funding round, pushing its valuation to $15 billion, Bloomberg reported. The new figure represents about a 2.5x increase from the company’s previous $6.35 billion valuation last May. According to the company, the funding round was led by Dragoneer Investment Group.
Other investors participating in the round included:
- Bessemer Venture Partners
- GIC
- Index Ventures
- Khosla Ventures
- Lightspeed Venture Partners
Alongside the funding, ClickHouse announced its acquisition of Langfuse, a startup that helps developers track and evaluate the performance of their AI agents. AI agents are software programs designed to perform tasks autonomously using artificial intelligence. Langfuse operates as an observability platform, which provides tools used to monitor and evaluate the performance of software systems. In this market, Langfuse competes directly with LangSmith, which is the observability platform owned by LangChain. By acquiring Langfuse, ClickHouse integrates these monitoring and evaluation tools directly with its database platform, allowing developers to both store data and evaluate agent performance.
ClickHouse’s database is open source, and the company generates revenue by selling managed cloud services. The company reported that its annual recurring revenue (ARR)—a key metric for subscription-based software companies—grew by more than 250% year-over-year. The company’s customer base includes Meta, Tesla, Capital One, Lovable, Decagon, and Polymarket.
The company, which spun out from its former parent company Yandex in 2021, develops database software designed to process the massive datasets required by AI agents. This strategy places ClickHouse in direct competition with established data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.
Why it matters
ClickHouse’s $15 billion valuation and acquisition of Langfuse highlight its strategy to capture the database market for AI agents. By integrating performance-tracking tools directly with its database platform, the company is positioning itself to compete against Snowflake and Databricks.
