Rox hits $1.2 billion valuation for AI sales automation
Rox, a startup building autonomous AI agents for sales teams, has reportedly raised funding at a $1.2 billion valuation, according to multiple sources.
Rox, a startup developing autonomous AI agents to boost sales productivity, has secured a new funding round that values the company at $1.2 billion, according to multiple sources. The investment was reportedly led by returning backer General Catalyst. The fundraise, which closed last year, comes after the company previously announced a total of $50 million in funding in November 2024. That earlier capital included a seed round led by Sequoia and a Series A round led by General Catalyst, with participation from GV. At the time of the new fundraise, Rox was projected to close 2025 with $8 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR)—a key metric for subscription-based businesses—according to two people familiar with the deal.
The company was founded in 2024 by Ishan Mukherjee, the former chief growth officer of software monitoring company New Relic. Mukherjee joined New Relic following its 2020 acquisition of Pixie, a software monitoring startup he co-founded. Rox positions its product as an intelligent revenue operating system. The platform integrates with a company’s existing customer relationship management (CRM) software—which manages customer data and interactions—such as Salesforce and Zendesk, to deploy hundreds of autonomous AI agents. These agents work to automate sales workflows by monitoring existing accounts, researching prospects, and updating CRM databases. By consolidating these functions, Rox aims to replace and streamline numerous fragmented software solutions currently used by sales teams.
Dave Munichiello, an investor at GV, described the startup’s approach during its Series A round: “Rox’s unique system of AI agents levels up the CRM experience. These agents work constantly behind the scenes to monitor customer activity, identify potential risks and opportunities, and even suggest the best course of action.”
Rox’s current customer base includes companies such as Ramp, MongoDB, and New Relic. As it scales, the startup faces a competitive landscape that spans both established software providers and new AI-native entrants:
- Established incumbents: Revenue intelligence providers such as Gong and Clari.
- AI sales development platforms: Startups like 11x and Artisan.
- AI-native CRM competitors: New entrants such as Monaco, an all-in-one CRM startup founded by Sam Blond, the former president of corporate spending platform Brex, which launched out of stealth last month.
Why it matters
Rox is attempting to replace fragmented sales software stacks with autonomous AI agents that handle CRM updates and prospect research, signaling a broader shift toward AI-native revenue operations.
