Rebel Audio secures $3.8 million to simplify podcast creation
Rebel Audio has launched an all-in-one, AI-powered podcasting platform for early-stage creators, backed by $3.8 million in seed funding.
Rebel Audio is launching an all-in-one podcasting platform designed for first-time and early-stage creators. The platform aims to simplify the creation process by allowing users to record, edit, and publish their shows without leaving the platform. To support this launch, the company secured $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed round. An official rollout to the public is scheduled to begin on May 30.
The platform’s user experience is heavily powered by AI, incorporating features such as transcription, translation, dubbing, and voice cloning. However, the rise of AI-generated content has drawn criticism across the creative industry, with streaming platforms previously forced to address material often characterized as “AI slop.” Rebel Audio has distinguished its creative AI features from its safety moderation systems. For instance, voice cloning on the platform is strictly opt-in and requires users to confirm they have the rights to use a given voice. Additionally, the company has implemented “safeguards aimed at preventing deepfake content” and built moderation systems to block non-compliant imagery in its AI-generated cover art tools.
Rebel Audio enters a growing market. The podcasting industry is projected to reach $114.5 billion by 2030. Audience metrics show growth, with more than 584 million podcast listeners in 2025, alongside predictions that this number will rise to 619 million by 2026. The platform will compete with other platforms such as Spotify, Riverside, Adobe, and Descript, but seeks to differentiate itself by embedding monetization features directly into the creation process from day one.
The company was developed in partnership with AI consulting firm Lattice Partners. Behind the scenes, the leadership team is led by founder Jared Gutstadt, who previously launched the production company Audio Up in 2020, and counts Mark Burnett as an advisor.
The platform is structured around three monthly pricing tiers:
- Basic ($15/month): Includes AI-assisted production, hosting, and distribution.
- Plus ($35/month): Adds video hosting and voice cloning for ad reads.
- Pro ($70/month): Includes translation, dubbing, listener subscriptions, and dynamic ad insertion—a technology for placing ads into audio content.
Why it matters
Rebel Audio is attempting to consolidate the fragmented podcasting creation process into a single platform, integrating AI tools and monetization from the start to lower the barrier to entry for new creators.
