OpenAI expands ChatGPT with third-party app integrations

OpenAI is rolling out direct app integrations within ChatGPT, allowing users to connect their accounts and perform tasks directly inside the chatbot interface. Instead of acting solely as a conversational assistant, the platform can now execute real-world actions across third-party services. For example, users can request ride options or create personalized music playlists directly within the chat.

The rollout of ChatGPT’s app integrations is currently limited to the U.S. and Canada, meaning users in Europe and the U.K. are excluded for now. The expanding ecosystem features a variety of integration partners, including:

• DoorDash: Introduced in December 2025, this integration allows users to plan meals and add ingredients to their cart.
• SeatGeek: Launched a native app—defined as software built specifically for the ChatGPT platform—in March 2026 to help users find event tickets.
• Wix: Launched its integration in March 2026, enabling users to generate functional websites via text or voice prompts.
• Spotify, Uber, and Target: Allowing users to build playlists, request on-demand rides, or compile shopping baskets.
• Travel and Home Services: Booking.com and Expedia allow users to search for accommodations, such as filtering for 4-star hotels, while Angi connects users with home improvement professionals.
• Other partners: Canva, Coursera, Figma, Quizlet, and Zillow.

Additionally, OpenAI plans to launch integrations with OpenTable, PayPal, and Walmart later in 2026.

To use these features, users must connect their accounts, which means sharing app data with ChatGPT. For instance, linking a Spotify account allows the chatbot to view playlists and listening history. Users should consider their privacy preferences before linking accounts, though integrations can be disconnected at any time through the settings menu. Furthermore, users utilizing visual tools like Canva should note that AI-generated designs are seldom perfect, with occasional distorted images or spelling mistakes. For example, users can prompt the tool to generate a 16:9 slide deck, but may need to manually adjust the final output.
