TechCrunch extends Startup Battlefield application deadline to June 8

TechCrunch has extended the application deadline for its 2026 Startup Battlefield cohort to June 8, 2026. This extension offers companies a final window to apply for the startup competition program, which will take place during the TechCrunch Disrupt event from October 13–15, 2026, in San Francisco. Startups selected for the program will compete for the Disrupt Cup and $100,000 in equity-free prize money—which is prize money awarded without the organizer taking ownership stakes in the winning company. Finalists receive a six-minute slot to pitch and demo live on the stage.

The selection process begins with the Startup Battlefield 200, a cohort of 200 companies chosen to exhibit at the event. From this pool, organizers select the Startup Battlefield Top 20, which represents what TechCrunch asserts is the best of the 200. These 20 companies receive pitch preparation from the TechCrunch team before presenting live. The live pitches are followed by a Q&A session with a panel of investors and judges. This panel includes Aileen Lee, Kirsten Green, Navin Chaddha, Chris Farmer, Dayna Grayson, Ann Miura-Ko, and Hans Tung.

While the Top 20 compete on the stage, all 200 participating companies receive the following benefits. Every company selected for the Startup Battlefield 200 cohort receives:

  • A demo booth to showcase their technology at TechCrunch Disrupt.
  • Event passes for the startup’s team.
  • Access to a pre-event program featuring venture capitalists, operators, and founders.
  • Pitch preparation and an invitation to the Startup Battlefield reception.
  • Opportunities to present on the Showcase Stage for Best in Industry.

The program’s value lies in its global network. Startups that participate join an alumni community of 1,700+ companies. This network includes alumni companies such as Dropbox, Discord, and Cloudflare. Collectively, Startup Battlefield alumni have raised $32 billion and produced 250+ exits.

Why it matters

The Startup Battlefield program provides startups with access to top-tier investors, pitch preparation, and a network of alumni that have collectively raised $32 billion.
