Smart home brand Govee has introduced the GoveeLife Smart Nugget Ice Maker Pro, a premium appliance priced at $500. The device is designed to produce “nugget ice”—the soft, chewable variety of ice typically found in restaurants—in as little as six minutes. Positioned as a high-end home gadget, the machine is capable of generating up to 60 pounds of ice per day to meet the demands of households seeking specialized beverage experiences. The appliance is aimed at consumers willing to invest in a dedicated device for high-quality ice on demand, rather than relying on standard refrigerator ice makers.

The machine is designed for straightforward operation, allowing users to fill the water tank and start the process directly on the device’s screen. To integrate into modern smart home setups, the appliance also features connectivity with the GoveeHome mobile application. This companion app allows users to start ice production remotely from their phones or schedule it in advance, ensuring fresh ice is ready when needed. The app also displays ice production in real time and monitors how much ice is currently in the bin. For hands-free operation, the device supports voice commands through integrations with Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing users to start the machine with simple vocal prompts.

To address the noise typically associated with countertop ice makers, Govee equipped the machine with AI NoiseGuard, the company’s proprietary noise reduction technology. This system is designed to keep the operating noise level at around 40 dB by automatically triggering defrosting cycles to minimize noise and help ensure a steady supply of ice.

The appliance requires a dedicated amount of counter space and is built with a substantial physical footprint. It features a 3.5-pound capacity ice basket that automatically refills as ice is removed. Due to its weight, the machine may require assistance to move or position during setup and cleaning. The physical specifications of the device include:

  • Depth: 17.28 inches
  • Width: 13.98 inches
  • Height: 17.01 inches
  • Weight: 50 pounds

Why it matters

The launch highlights the growing consumer appetite for premium, niche smart home appliances that offer specific, high-quality experiences—like “good ice”—integrated into broader smart home ecosystems.
