OpenAI launches 'Your Year with ChatGPT' review feature
OpenAI is rolling out 'Your Year with ChatGPT,' a personalized annual review feature for eligible users in select English-speaking markets, modeled after Spotify Wrapped.
OpenAI has launched “Your Year with ChatGPT,” a new annual review feature that provides users with a personalized summary of their activity. The offering is directly inspired by the popular Spotify Wrapped format, which has become a widely recognized staple of year-end consumer application engagement. By summarizing user activity and interests, the feature represents a shift toward consumer-focused platform identity. Similar to Spotify’s feature, OpenAI uses graphics to personalize the experience, presenting users with unique “awards” based on how they have used ChatGPT throughout the year. For instance, a user who frequently uses the chatbot to come up with solutions to a problem or work through a concept or idea might receive a “Creative Debugger” award.
The feature is currently available to eligible consumers in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. Access is limited to users on Free, Plus, and Pro plans. To qualify, users must have specific settings enabled—specifically, the “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” options—and they must have met a minimum conversation activity threshold. Conversely, Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded from the rollout and will not have access to the new feature. The experience is available across the ChatGPT web application as well as its official mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. In addition to the personalized awards, the application generates a custom poem and an image about the user’s year, focusing on their specific topics of interest.
While the year-end review will be promoted on the ChatGPT home screen, it is designed to be non-intrusive, meaning it will not be forced on users or opened automatically. Users can also trigger the experience directly by asking ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.” According to the company, the overall experience is meant to be “lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled” rather than a forced interaction. Looking ahead, TechCrunch notes that ChatGPT will embrace adult content in 2026.
Why it matters
This feature marks OpenAI’s move into consumer-facing engagement tools, mirroring the successful ‘Wrapped’ format popularized by Spotify to deepen user retention and platform identity.
