Beehiiv launches podcast hosting with zero revenue sharing

Newsletter platform Beehiiv is introducing native podcast hosting to its platform, allowing creators to host, distribute, and monetize their audio content directly. A key differentiator in Beehiiv’s strategy is its pricing model: the company does not take a cut of creator revenue, allowing creators to keep 100% of their earnings. This model directly challenges other creator platforms that rely on revenue-sharing models, such as Substack and Patreon.

To compare the revenue cuts across platforms:

  • Beehiiv: 0% (creators keep 100% of their revenue)
  • Substack: 10% cut of revenue from paid podcast subscriptions
  • Patreon: 8% cut of revenue

The expansion into podcasting comes during a period of financial growth for Beehiiv, which was founded in 2021. The company last raised a $33 million Series B—a stage of venture capital financing—in April 2024, with Lightspeed Venture Partners and NEA participating as investors. According to co-founder and CEO Tyler Denk, Q1 2026 was the best quarter in the company’s history. During this period, Beehiiv added $4.5 million in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), sent more than 10 billion emails, and crossed 50,000 active users. The company is leveraging this growth to consolidate creator tools on its platform, offering an alternative to fragmented services.

Denk described the expansion into podcasting as an obvious move for the company, noting that newsletters and podcasts share significant audience and monetization overlaps. “We believe a newsletter should be a core piece of infrastructure for any podcast,” said Tyler Denk, Beehiiv co-founder and CEO. The platform’s new podcast analytics are built to IAB standards—the Interactive Advertising Bureau standards for podcast measurement—to provide creators with detailed download and demographic data, including breakdowns by country, device, and operating system.

Looking ahead, Denk anticipates heavy adoption of the new podcasting features from existing users over the next several weeks and months. The platform will also distribute podcasts to major platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The company plans to expand its advertising network beyond newsletters to dynamically serve ads in podcasts, and is currently hiring a head of Podcasts to oversee these plans.
